Quebec Government Announces the Reopening of the PEQ

The Government of Quebec has announced the reopening of both streams of the Quebec Experience Program (Programme de l’expérience québécoise – PEQ): the Quebec Graduates Stream and the Temporary Foreign Workers Stream.

The program will reopen for a period of two years beginning on July 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. However, applications will only be accepted during specific intake periods in order to align with Quebec’s immigration targets.

First Application Intake Period

The first intake period will be open from July 2, 2026, to October 31, 2026.

During this initial period, the government will prioritize individuals who would have qualified under the PEQ before the program was abolished on November 19, 2025.

Quebec Graduates Stream

Applicants must have obtained an eligible Quebec diploma on or before November 19, 2025.

Temporary Foreign Workers Stream

Applicants must have accumulated at least two years of eligible work experience in Quebec within the three years preceding November 19, 2025.

No Application Cap During the First Intake Period

The Quebec government has confirmed that there will be no cap on applications during this first intake period. All applications submitted between July 2 and October 31, 2026, that meet the announced eligibility criteria will be processed.

Selection Requirements Remain in Effect

Applicants must continue to meet all PEQ selection requirements in order to obtain a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ), including the requirement to reside in Quebec.
